Stardust

Inspiration for STARDUST came from years chasing the California Dream in Los Angeles all while pining for my New York roots. I was searching for a classic rock vibe tailor-made for snaky guitar steel that might color some hazy homeward journey across that sunny, ambiguous LA landscape. STARDUST was produced by guitarist Tosh Sheridan and features Eric Halvorson on the drums. Phil Kadet plays the organ on STARDUST. Music and lyrics by Fritz Michel.

Videos directed and edited by Jim Berry using animation from “You Don’t Know What You’re Doin’” (1931), “A Date To Skate” (1938), and “Moonlight for Two” (1932).

Lyrics:

Driving out the one eighteen
Looking for a house I’ve never been
Woman, some thirty years on me
Friend, he said, she’ll help you see

Stardust shattering the past
Questions answered fast
Erasing all my problems
Oh yeah, it’s a laugh

On Zelzah Avenue, the rear mirror gleam
Franklins spillin’ from the ATM machine
Go right on North, way’s not new
Cheshire Cat grin, restless too

Stardust shattering the past
Moments just don’t last
Journey down, an instant,
Oh yeah, it’s a laugh

Topanga Canyon breeze is light
Hands on the wheel nice and tight
Pacific Ocean waves crest by
Pedal to floor
Pale blue sky

Mulholland Drive, winding slow
Rent a Chateau bungalow
Promised land, the Golden State
Got a flash to tempt my fate

Stardust shattering the past
Ulysses lashed to the mast
The Sirens voices calling
Oh yeah, it’s a laugh

Stardust shattering the past
Finding my way home at last
Riding out on a Lear jet
Oh yeah, it’s a laugh
